Internship Closing Report

During my internship, Stacie and Rob taught me about being persistent, being thorough, having confidence in yourself, and how to multitask effectively. During the first part of my internship with Willow I was tasked with the job of gathering contact information for 500 different clothing companies. I did this by researching each company's website on the internet, taking their email and phone numbers and organizing it in a spreadsheet. Some companies didn't have websites, so I had tried looking up their company on facebook, and wouldn't you know, most of these companies have a page with their contact information. The second part of my internship was a little more interesting and fun. I got to go to Willow's headquarters in Temecula, California for a week and work hands on with Stacie and Rob in the office. Each morning I would get in at 9 and Stacie would have a list of things for me to do. The first day I rearranged files for most of the day and helped pick out photo filters for Willow's instagram account. The second day a model came into headquarters for and interview. My job was to give her paperwork to fill out and make sure she was comfortable, I was basically a receptionist. But I enjoyed it very much, the girl I was talking to was a high school senior, she was telling me about how she wanted to become a model ever since she was a little girl. I just think its cool that I got the chance to meet some really cool people during my time at Willow. Initially I thought I would just be in the background filing and organizing, which I was some days, but they actually let me observe their photo shoots and interviews. I learned a lot about being thorough and persistent at Willow. Persistency is the key to good work I think. Rob, as a photographer knows this first hand. You never get "the perfect shot" your first try. It probably takes dozens, if not hundreds of shots to get that perfect shot. And thoroughness is essential in any job that requires you to gather resources or information. Another highlight of my time in Temecula was when I got meet another model, Chris, and he answered some of my questions about what it's like to be a male model. He said he does a lot of skateboard ads and beachwear and things like that. I asked him if he enjoys all the attention and he said that modeling isn't really for the shy. you need to outgoing and confident because it shows in your photos. And I related that to what you think really reflects how you act. If you think confidently then you'll act with confidence as well. If you go into a shoot thinking you're going to do terrible, odds are that you will because you put yourself in that mentality. So I guess the main things I learned during this internship is be persistent, be confident, and be thorough.
